Our facility is located just miles south of downtown Flagstaff, Arizona.
I-17 to Exit 333 Kachina Blvd./Mountainaire Rd. Turn East at the stop sign, go 1/2 mile to Old Munds Highway and turn left, go 1/4 mile to property driveway on left, turn at the "Northern Arizona Riding Stables" sign. (mailbox marked "9215")
From I-40, take I-17 South towards Phoenix 6 miles, then follow the above directions.
Resident Trainer Named Barn Manager!
**We are pleased to announce that we have appointed Kate Dixon as the barn manager here at Northern Arizona Riding Stables effective September 1, 2009.
Kate is an accomplished horsewoman with years of experience in all levels and disciplines of riding and training. Kate has been involved with horses since the age of 11 where she rode in Rodeo & Gymkhana events. She competed in barrel racing, break-away roping and goat tying as a youth in Tucson. She transitioned to English riding to pursue her interest in jumping which landed her in a foreign exchange program in Argentina where she competed in show jumping throughout South America. Kate also rode for both the Eventing and Hunter/Jumper teams at Oregon State University and started working as an independent trainer at age 20. In Oregon she worked starting young colts, showing Arabians, Morgan’s, Quarter Horses and Paints all while competing in Dressage and Show Jumping! Her travels include a stay in Alaska where Kate worked as a veterinary technician and then on to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming where she worked for a trail riding operation as Assistant Foreman and Wrangler. Kate finally returned to Arizona to continue with her passion for training and showing. Although her emphasis is geared towards young horses and Eventing, Kate welcomes all levels of riders in any discipline to utilize her training expertise.
We are honored that Kate has accepted this position and feel she will add a great dynamic to the barn and hope everyone takes the opportunity to get to know her and learn from her vast and diverse experience.
