Events Summer 2010 Schedule- Camps, Clinics & Shows 2 DAY CAMPS · Trail Riding 101- (Beginner/Advanced Beginner level riding) This camp will be best enjoyed by kids who are interested in learning basic horsemanship with an emphasis on trail riding, trail safety and etiquette. On the second day of camp this kids will be guided on a trail ride through the forest followed by a picnic lunch. Riding experience is not necessary to attend this camp. Riding assessments will be done on the first day and kids matched with trail safe horses best suited for their riding level. Lunch will be provided each day. “101” Camps – Ages 7-13, 9:00-1:00 pm, $200 June 14-15 & July 5-6 · Horse Showing 101- (Beginner/Advanced Beginner level riding)This camp will be best enjoyed by kids who are interested in learning basic horsemanship with an emphasis on showing a horse, show grooming, basic show rules and etiquette. On the second day of camp the kids will participate in a mock horse show competing in Halter, Western and English classes. Riding experience is not necessary to attend this camp. Riding assessments will be done on the first day and kids matched with safe horses suited for their riding level. This camp will focus on safety and fun in a low competitive environment and lunch will provided each day. “101” Camps – Ages 7-13, 9:00-1:00 pm, $200 June 28-29 & July 19-20 · Horsemanship Overnighter Camp- (Intermediate/Advanced level riding) this camp will be best enjoyed by kids who are interested in taking their riding skills to the next level! Emphasis will be on more advanced horsemanship and riding skills. One on one riding instruction will be included as well as some safe and fun horseback exercises that will challenge the rider and teach better balance and communication with the horse. Horses will be provided for those who do not have their own however, campers with their own horses are welcome and overnight stalls will be provided for a nominal fee. Campers will sleep over in our multi-purpose room supervised by camp counselors at all times. After riding, campers will enjoy our guest speaker, dinner, a movie and lots of fun! Riding experience is required to attend this camp. Campers must have attended a previous NARS camp OR be able to walk, trot and canter on a horse with confidence. Overnight Camp –Ages 9-14, 1:00 pm- 1:00pm, $250 August 21-22 3 DAY CAMPS · Horsemanship 202 Camp – (Intermediate/Advanced level riding) This camp will be best enjoyed by kids who are interested in taking their riding skills to the next level! Emphasis will be on more advanced horsemanship and riding skills. One on one riding instruction will be included as well as some safe and fun horseback exercises that will challenge the rider and teach better balance and communication with the horse. Horses will be provided for those who do not have their own however, campers with their own horses are welcome and overnight stalls will be provided for a nominal fee. Campers will also be taught a “hands on” approach to horse health & basic first aid, nutrition and practical horse ownership. Riding experience is required to attend this camp. Campers must have attended a previous NARS camp OR be able to walk, trot and canter on a horse with confidence. Ages 10-16, 9:00 -1:00 $275 July 1-3
**(Entry fee discounts will be given to the Beat the Heat Show Series & Jumper Schooling Show for Pony Club members and anyone who has previously attended a NARS camp or clinic.) · NARS Kids Camp- This camp will be best enjoyed by the child who has always wanted to learn how to ride a horse or gain more confidence with their horsemanship skills. Each camper will have their own horse to ride, groom and care for through the week. The camp program is geared towards the horse lover who wants learn all about horses. We will be assessing each rider and catering the riding portion of camp according to each rider’s ability. This will be a fun, challenging, yet safe experience for everyone! Camp will also include fun horse related arts & crafts, the basics of barn life, and much more. Lunch and drinks are included each day. This camp is the NARS original camp! Kids that have attended this camp in the past may find our 2&3 day camps more interesting and challenging (depending on their riding ability) however, we welcome all new AND repeat campers!! Ages 6-12, 9:00 – 1:00 $300 June 21-24 & July 26-29 RIDING CLINICS · Show Jumping- Trainer Kate Dixon will be conducting this clinic designed for all levels. This jumping clinic will be divided into multiple groups. We will have groups starting with green riders/green horses looking to begin their jumping education, all the way through the upper divisions of advanced riders looking to challenge their skills and horses. Following the clinic, our schooling jumper show will be run similarly. We will offer tiny cross-rail courses you can trot, continuing through the upper levels of triple combinations and Liverpool’s! Attendee’s must bring their own horse. Schooling Jumper Show - Attention all Jumpers! Class Schedule: 1. Hunter Under Saddle (non-jumping/warm-up class) 2. Hunter Hack (inc. 2 jumps, under 2’) 3. Trot Cross-Rails 18” 4. Canter Cross-Rails 18”-2’ 5. Baby Jumpers 2’-2’3” 6. Beginner Jumpers 2’3”-2’6” 7. Schooling Jumpers 2’6”-2’9” 8. Training Jumpers 2’9”-3’ 9. Open Jumpers 3’-3’3” We have brand new footing in our arena. Come school with us and get a “jump” on the competition for summer! Friendly and educational judging! CHARITY EVENTS 2nd Annual Ride for a Cure – Trail ride & BBQ Benefit to support breast cancer charities. Guided 1.5 hour trail ride leaving from Northern Arizona Riding Stables through Coconino National Forest followed by a catered BBQ and raffle. $35/person.
